Creation Process for the Brass Collection

While working on my hardware for the Poppies Collection in Tuscany, Italy, with the craftsman responsible for Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabana, and beyond, I was inspired to make my wood carved bags into brass carved bags. The team and I discussed the idea at length, as this sort of project would be complicated, laborious, and difficult.

After much brainstorming, I decided to have my magical carver and priest, in the sacred Blumera temple atelier in Bali, carve my new designs and hollow them so that I would be able to make molds of them and carefully adapt them into brass carvings. The work was intense and arduous. It took us over a year to perfect the method which entails taking small individual carvings of brass and meticulously hand-soldering them together to create the masterful Conference of the Birds Carved Brass Collection.

The solid brass carved bags are carved-out to the maximum amount, in order to create bags that are not too heavy to carry. The bags are then coated in golden hues (or silver, rose gold, and black gunmetal, by special order) so that the color will last a lifetime. Click here for care instructions.

The gorgeous metal bags made of brass are made with love, intention, and care by master jewelers in Italy.
